HII, NIA, and NRCT collaborate to address human-elephant conflict and enhance community employment.

On November 24, 2022, Special Professor Dr. Anek Laothamatas, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, presided over a signing ceremony named “Propelling Royal Initiatives on Natural Resources and Environment of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great with Science, Research and Innovation” which involved with three agencies.

The Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII), the National Innovation Agency (NIA), and the National Research Agency (NRCT) jointly signed an agreement under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) initiative. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Sutat Weesakul, Director of HII, Dr. Pan-Arj Chairat, Director of NIA, and Dr. Wiparat Di-Ong, Director of NRCT at the Hydro-Informatics Institute in Chatuchak District, Bangkok.

During the ceremony, Minister presented Engineering Award trophy on Water Resources Engineering to the winners of the “THAIWATER HACK: Knowing Water, Reducing Threats, Creating Opportunities” contest, which was jointly organized by HII and the Engineering Institute of Thailand Under H.M. the King’s Patronage. The objective of the competition was to discover creative approaches to address water issues in the country by leveraging engineering and HII’s National Hydroinformatics Data Center (Thaiwater.net). The competition offered a total prize of 180,000 baht. The “Hydroinformatics for Highways” team emerged as the winners, with the “Flood Reporting Platform” team from the National Water Administration securing second place, and the “On-Farm Solution” team claiming third place. All three teams will work together with NIA to transform their ideas into practical implementations.
