On August 30, 2023, Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII), extended a warm welcome to a delegation of executives and representatives from the Friends in Need (of “PA”) Volunteers Foundation, Thai Red Cross. Their visit was aimed at gaining insights into the Automated Telemetry Station system for rain gauge and water level measurements, the data processing system for water resource and weather information, and the utilization of data from the National Water Data Warehouse available on the website www.thaiwater.net.

This collaborative learning experience harnesses the power of data for precise analysis of water-related situations. They learned to connect multiple datasets and employ current events to assess areas at risk of heavy rainfall and potential disasters, notably those caused by a powerful tropical storm passing through Thailand and any changes influenced by “Typhoon Sela.”

As a result, these organizations are now better equipped to proactively prepare for and respond to such events, enhancing their ability to provide efficient assistance and relief to those affected by disasters. This collaborative effort has strengthened the network of volunteer organizations, enabling them to apply data effectively in their disaster management and relief efforts.
